SAFETY & CLOTHING

If you come here to walk, cycle or ride, we recommend that you wear suitable clothing that covers your arms, legs and head to prevent being bitten by insects and ticks.

Cyclists who do not wear glasses, should wear sun-glasses. This prevents dust and midgets/flies from hitting your eyes when you are underway, particularly in wooded areas.

Note that the Dutch generally do not wear cycling helmets and that they are not mandatory, except for mountain bikes. The cycle paths and roads here are deemed to be safe enough for recreational cycling. However, you can rent helmets for €2.50/day. In all cases, you cycle at your own risk.
